Car Parking

Rother District Council Car Parks are located at the following sites:

Bedford Place (Fishmarket Road, TN31 7LR), Lucknow Place (Fishmarket Road, TN31 7LP), Cinque Ports Street (TN31 7AN), The Strand (TN31 7DB), Rye Swimming Pool (The Grove, TN31 7ND) and Gibbets Marsh (Udimore Road, TN31 7DU).

Privately Owned Car Parks:

Rye Cattle Market (TN31 7NA) – No parking overnight Wednesday / Thursday due to the weekly market.

Rye Station Car Park (TN31 7AB) – run by Indigo Parks on behalf of Southern

Winchelsea Road Car Park (TN31 7EL)

Wish Street Car Park (TN31 7EJ) –

On-Street Parking is Pay and Display from Monday to Saturday:

8am-6pm, max stay 2 hours – Cinque Ports Street, Tower Street, Landgate, Cyprus Place, Market Road and Wish Ward.

9am-6pm, max stay 2 hours – High Street, Hilders Cliff, East Street and Market Street.

Public Toilets

Rye’s public toilets are run by Rother District Council.

Facilities are located at the following sites:

Strand Quay (TN31 7DB), Lucknow Place Car Park (TN31 7LP), Rye Gun Gardens (TN31 7HH) and opposite Rye Railway Station (TN31 7AB).


There are 15 radios available for use by Rye community events, festivals or organisations (previously used for the Rye Shop Watch Scheme). These come with all appropriate equipment including chargers, are fully licenced and have coverage as far as Winchelsea Beach and Camber. If you would like to loan these for a community event, please contact Rye Town Hall for further details.


Highways England are responsible for the A259 and other trunk roads.

East Sussex Highways are responsible for all other roads – this includes pavements and street lights.

Rye Town Council provides and maintains Rock Salt Bins at the following locations. Please note that salt supplied by the Town Council may be used on public roads and pavements only. Any other use – such as on driveways, garden paths, patios, privately-owned shop fronts or private car parks – constitutes theft and will be reported to the Police.
